- PP # 1: Go through slides 3 - 22 to review different types of sports and expressions to talk about these sports. Class ended (HW: review slides 3 - 22 and become familiar with the different sports and expressions.)
- Tuesday August 27 PP # 1: Go to slide 23 and read about Juan and the sports he and his family practice. As your read each sport, click on the slide to see the sports Juan talks about.
- PP# 1: Go to slides 24-25 and review the conjugations of the verbs Practicar y Jugar.
- PP # 1: Go to slide 26 and do the writing task about the sports you, your family and friends practice. Do this task on a Word document. When you finish, e-mail your paragraph to Mr. Fernando. Class ended.
- PP # 1: Go to slide # 27 and search for the names for the names of the different hobbies that you see. Work with partners and divide the work. Then, share answers with class. (Continue with this step.)
- PP # 1: Go through slides 28 - 43 to review different types of hobbies and expressions to talk about these hobbies.
- PP # 1: Go through slides 44 - 50 to review expressions that allow you to talk about where you go and what you do during the week and weekends.Class ended. (HW: review vocabulary on sports and hobbies. Also review expressions seen on PP # 1 slides 44-50.)

- PP # 1: Go through slides 58-60 to review the immediate future (voy a...) using the verb (IR + a + verb in infinitive)
- PP # 1: Go to slide 56, and the teacher will read the dialogue about a friend inviting another friend to go out to dinner during the weekend. Next, read the dialogue in pairs. Finally, a couple of volunteers will practice the dialogue in front of the class. Class ended.
- Monday September 2 Brief review of vocabulary/expressions on slide 56 PP # 1.
- PP # 1: Refer back to slide 56 (dialogue) and write 4 questions about the dialogue for a partner to answer. Then, e-mail the questions to your teacher so he may check them. Once checked, let a partner answer the questions. Once the partner answers the questions, partners need to discuss answers. Finally, e-mail the questions that you answered to teacher Class ended.
- Students finish step 16.
- PP # 1: Go to slide 61 and read the text: What are you going to do during the weekend? Make sure you understand all vocabulary and expressions. Then, click the link for question and answer them. When done, click the link for answers and revise your responses. Class ended.
- Skit: do a skit in groups of 2-3 people. The skit needs to have the following: greetings, ask how you are doing, ask what you are doing during the weekend, include an invitation to do something that is denied, include a second invitation that is accepted, two uses of the immediate future, ask where you are meeting and at what time, and a surprise or shocking ending. All the above information must appear in the skit. Each character does not have to say everything. However, make sure you balance out how much each character says. Practice your dialogue so you may act it out without looking at your script. Use slide 56 in PP # 1 as a reference.
- PP # 1: go to slides 63-64 and research the Spanish name of the different house chores that people do. Once done, we share as a class by revising slide 70-73. Class ended.
- PP # 1: With a partner, go to slide 74 and take turns asking and answering the question at the top of the slide (How are you going to help your parents this weekend at home?). Ask the question for each picture. When you are done, we will share with the class.
- Writing task: Escribe un párrafo sobre cómo tú ayudas en tu casa a tus padres y por qué. Escribe sobre 4 cosas que tú haces para ayudar y por qué. Cuando termines, manda el párrafo vía correo electrónicom al señor Fernando.
- Visual Stimulus # 1: Choose one of the four images and prepare 15 minutes in order to be able to talk freely and answer questions about the images. You may take notes as a reference. However, you may not read your notes. This is great practice for your Internal Oral Assessment. Good luck. Class ended.
- Present visual stimulus. Each student will meet with Mr. Fernando and talk freely for 2 minutes bout the visual stimulus they chose. Then Mr. Fernando will ask you questions about the visual stimulus for 3 minutes. Class ended.

- Students that are done with the interview should go back to step # 22 and do this activity.
- Assessment: You will have an assessment after the Chousak Holidays. We will decide together what days are the best for you. You will have a compulsory grammar/vocabulary test. - PP # 2: Here we will learn how to use the past tense of regular verbs. Review the use of the past tense for -ar, -er, and -ir ending verbs, and do the exercises within the Power Point.
- Internet links: check the 3 links to your right. These are webpages that further explain with examples the use of the past tense of regular verbs. I strongly suggest you look at these carefully.
- Word document # 1: this exercise will give you a chance to conjugate regular verbs that end in -ar, -er, and -ir. Also, make sure you look up any vocabulary or expressions you don't understand from the paragraph. Once you are done, check your answers in Word document # 2.
- Assessments: You will have a grammar/vocabulary and short written evaluation Tuesday September 24. Please revise Word document # 3 to your left.
- Write a paragraph about different activities (Use 10 different verbs in the past tense.) you did over this last summer vacation. Include sports, hobbies, house chores, or other activities. Once you are done, e-mail the paragraph to Mr. Fernando.
- Today is your grammar/vocabulary and writing task assessment. Good luck. Tomorrow you will get a change to finish your assessment.

- 1: Entretenimiento y medios sociales. Your main objective for this task is to focus on how media used to be in the past and how it is now a days (specially social media). To do an efficient job in this activity, you need to use the imperfect of verbs when you try to express how things used to be in the past. Your task: Check out Galleria # 1to your left, and pick among pictures 1, 2, or 3. Pickonly one picture and do what the caption below the picture asks you to do. The pictures are there to give you specific ideas, insights, and to guide your response to the captions. An important part of this task is to interact with a partner and exchange ideas and insights on how to respond to the caption according to what you see in the illustrations and according to your experience. After you finish brainstorming with a partner or on your own (not the best choice), you need to write a paragraph about what the caption asked you to do. Your paragraph needs to be at least 150words in length. The paragraph needs to have the following: 1) Introduction, body, and conclusion. 2) Needs to deal with what the caption is asking of you in depth. 3) It needs to have a variety of verbs used in the imperfect tense (Use at least six verbs in the imperfect tense.) Even though you work with a partner, you need to turn in your own paragraph. At some point before you start writing your paragraph, you will need to review how to form the imperfect tense. Please down load PP#1: The imperfect tense. In this document you need to do the exercises on slide # 4 and then check your answers. Finally, when you are done with the paragraph, e-mail it to Mr. Fernando.

- Paragraph about social media and the use of the imperfect tense: the deadline is Friday October 1. E-mail it to Mr. Fernando.

- Research: your task is to do an investigation about a social media. Investigate the following points: 1) Background (Name, age, where they are from, higher education experience, and work experience) on the developers of this media and when the media came out to the public. 2) Why was this media developed? What problems was it meant to solve? 3) What was the challenge in the development of this media? 4 ) How did this particular social media change the lives of people? Name 4 ways. 5) What weaknesses and strengths do you observe in this social media in the way it influences people's lives? 6) How do you see this social media evolving in the long term? (5 years from now) 7) How relevant is this social media in your life and why? If it is not relevant, what would the social media need to have to make it relevant and why would this change make a difference?Please elaborate and go in depth in your answers. Once you are done with your research, write your findings for all (7) points in Spanish. Then e-mail me this research in a Word document so I may check it.

- Movie Review Project: You are a movie critic and your job is to do two (2) reviews. One review is about a movie you like and recommend and the other review is about a movie you don't like and recommend. You need to present your movie reviews through a Power Point presentation and your presentation needs to have the following: 1) A review of a movie that you like and do recommend. 2) A review of a movie that you don't like and don't recommend. 3) Each movie review should mention the name of the movie, a description of the protagonists, a brief background of the director, mention the country the movie is from, mention the year it was released, mention the type of movie it is (action, horror, etc.), briefly but effectively describe what the movie is about, describe how the music complements or takes away from the movie, briefly talk about the special effects of the movie and mention if they add value to the movie, mention how much money the movie made, and your detailed opinion on why you like the movie and recommend it, or why you don't like the movie and don't recommend it. Make sure you back up your opinions with specific examples from the 2 movies you have chosen. 4)Each movie review should be in paragraph form(NO BULLET POINTS, PLEASE.) 5) Each movie review should have an image from the movie and the image should have a link to a YouTube trailerabout the movie. 6) You should have an introduction slide with at least one image and your opening remarks. 7) You should have a closing slide with at least one image and your final thoughts. 8) This assignment has three components: a) The Power Point and all its content. b) A writing component c) An oral component

- Essay: After knowing the different steps involved in planning a trip. You need to write a 3 paragraph essay about all the necessary steps you need to take to get from your home to the hotel in your final destination. The steps need to follow a logical order. Make sure your paragraph has a title, an introduction paragraph, a closing paragraph, and the appropriate use of transition words. Please make sure you mention the name of the country, city, and specific place of your final destination. Also, mention why you are going there (Give at least 3 reasons). This essay is due Tuesday December 3. It will not be graded, but it is an excellent preparation for your written assessment.

- lunes 9 de diciembre Today I will be absent. So your assignment today is to prepare another visual prompt for our next practice verbal activity. Oliver, Mitchel, Felix, and Arisa please make sure you are done preparing for your first visual prompt. If you are, you may continue with the second one. Tuesday December 10th we will continue doing our verbal practice with visual prompt # 2 and visual prompt # 1 for those who have not done it. Visual Prompt # 2: Even though this visual prompt looks simple, remember that you need to talk about it for two minutes. Then I will ask you questions for three minutes. The idea is for you to be able to elaborate a story or situation from what you see. Two minutes speaking is a significant amount of time. Thus, please prepare well. If you get done with visual prompt # 2, please continue with your research in preparation for your IB external written assessment about the comparison of a cultural aspect of your country and a Spanish speaking country.

Do each writing task on a separate sheet of paper, doublespace your writing, and please write clearly. Also, don't forget to include an introduction, body,closing, and transition words. These 5 writing tasks are excellent practice for your IB external exam. You may use your computer to find out the meaning of individual spanish words.
