Even though this visual prompt looks simple, you need to talk about it for two minutes. Then I will ask you questions about it for threeminutes. The idea of this task: The objective is for you to be able to elaborate a story or situation from what you see. Two minutes speaking is a significant amount of time. On the real assessment, in grade 12, you will have 15 minutes in the exam session to write very brief notes and bullet points about what you wish to say about the picture (no dictionaries allowed). The purpose of the notes you take is to guide your thinking. However, the idea is for you to consult your notes and not to read them. Remember, there is no right or wrong when interpreting the picture. We need to focus on vocabulary, fluency, grammar, and how you structure your language. We will continue working on this Visual Prompt task onTuesday December 10.

If you have already practiced with me, continue to expand your writing until you have enough information to share for 2 minutes. A good exercise, beside practicing with a partner, is to write down all the information you want to share without looking at your notes. After I finish practicing with all students, I will do a second round of practice with everyone.
- practice with Visual Prompt # 1 in preparation for our oral test.
- continue practicing our verbal skills using visual prompts. To the left of your screen you have two visual prompts. Pick one of them and write notes about the image in bullet point form. When you are done with your notes, you will need to talk to me about your visual prompt for two minutes. The idea of your notes is to consult them, but don't read them. After you speak to me for two minutes about your visual prompt, I will ask you questions about your prompt for three minute. You should be able to practice your visual prompt with me.
- continue preparing your visual prompt. Remember that you need to be able to talk to me about your visual prompt with eloquence and confidence. Also, make an effort to think about possible questions that I may ask you about your prompt. You need to be ready for these. Furthermore, when you practice, use bullet points.

- Your task is to continue answering the questions in Word document # 1: Día de los Reyes Magos. Once you are done, your next task is to write a paragraph about a traditional celebration in your country. Remember, birthdays are not traditional celebrations of a country. As usual, your paragraph needs a title, an introduction sentence, a body, a closing sentence, and transition words. Also, your paragraph should address the following: 1) what is celebrated 2) when it is celebrated 3) why it is celebrated 4) what happensin the celebration (Describe what goes on.) 5) what is your opinion about this celebration. Please write this in your notebook and double space the lines. When your are done writing, send me a YouTube link that shows a short (6 minutes or less) video about your country's traditional celebration. The video may be in English, Spanish, or your own language.
- Your task is to continue working on the paragraph about a traditional celebration in your country. This task will prepare you for your next assessment. In your next assessment, you will show your YouTube video to the class, and you will speak (in Spanish) to the class about the traditional celebration in your country. Thus, once your are done writing your paragraph, start practicing for your class presentation.

- Today I will touch base with each one of you to see how you are coming along with your traditional country celebration paragraph.
- Today we will be practicing our verbal skills by asking each other different questions about the typical celebration in our own individual countries.
- Today you will be in charge of investigating a specific typical celebration from Mexico. There is a text you need to read and a YouTube video you need to watch. In other words, you need to become knowledgeable enough about the typical celebration you have been assigned to inform the whole class about it. Thus, you are the expert in that particular Mexican celebration. You will be divided into 4 groups of 2. Each group will be assigned a number between 1 - 4. Below are your assigned celebrations: Group # 1: Word document # 3 and its video Group # 2: Word document # 4 and its video Group # 3: Word document # 5 and its video Group # 4: Word document # 6 and its video. Today you need to read the text and watch the video. Then you need to work with your group and discuss what the celebration is about and decide who is going to explain what to the whole class. Before each group does their presentation about the typical celebration in Mexico, the whole class will get a chance to view the YouTube video. Additional requirements: Each group needs to use at least 4 pictures, in aPower Point, to explain the typical celebration to the class. After each group presents, the other groups are required to ask one question to the presenters, and the presenters need to make their best effort to answer. You will be also asked each group one question about the typical Mexican celebration. Important: Your time is limited. You will work on this today and tomorrow and present to the class. You need to manage your time wisely.
