- lunes 3 de febrero Today is the last day we will work on the apartment/house floor plan visual prompt. It will be your responsibility to finish your writing at home. We will set a date for our first oral assessment for the second semester.
- martes 4 de febrero Word Document # 1: Today we are going to read about the Three Magic Kings in the Word document to the left. This is a celebration that happens in Spain. Please read the text, look up vocabulary, consult with your classmates, and consult with your teacher. After you feel confident about the meaning of the text, answer the questions found in the document. But first, let's take a look at the video to the left.

- jueves 13 de febrero Today I will be absent. Your task is to continue answering the questions inWord document # 1: Día de los Reyes Magos. Once you are done, your next task is to write a paragraph about a traditional celebration in your country. Remember, birthdays are not traditional celebrations of a country. As usual, your paragraph needs a title, an introduction sentence, a body, a closing sentence, and transition words. Also, your paragraph should address the following: 1) what is celebrated 2) when it is celebrated 3) why it is celebrated 4) what happensin the celebration (Describe what goes on.) 5) what is your opinion about this celebration. Please write this in your notebook and double space the lines. When your are done writing, send me aYouTube link that shows a short (6 minutes or less) video about your country's traditional celebration. The video may be in English, Spanish, or your own language.
- lunes 17 de febrero Today I am going to be absent. Your task is to continue working on the paragraph about a traditional celebration in your country. This task will prepare you for your next assessment. In your next assessment, you will show your YouTube video to the class, and you will speak (in Spanish) to the class about the traditional celebration in your country. Thus, once your are done writing your paragraph, start practicing for your class presentation.

Also, today and in the next two days you should continue writing about the traditional celebration in your country and preparing for your oral evaluation. I am ill today. So, please check the answers to the questions about the three wise men in Word document # 2 to your left. Then continue working on your paragraph about a traditional celebration in your country.

- jueves 20 de febrero Today we will be practicing our verbal skills by asking each other different questions about the typical celebration in our own individual countries.
- lunes 24 de febrero Today you will be in charge of investigating a specific typical celebration from Mexico. There is a text you need to read and a YouTube video you need to watch. In other words, you need to become knowledgeable enough about the typical celebration you have been assigned to inform the whole class about it. Thus, you are the expert in that particular Mexican celebration. You will be divided into 4 groups of 2. Each group will be assigned a number between 1 - 4. Below are your assigned celebrations: Group # 1: Word document # 3 and its video Group # 2: Word document # 4 and its video Group # 3: Word document # 5 and its video Group # 4: Word document # 6 and its video. Today you need to read the text and watch the video. Then you need to work with your group and discuss what the celebration is about and decide who is going to explain what to the whole class. Before each group does their presentation about the typical celebration in Mexico, the whole class will get a chance to view the YouTube video. Additional requirements: Each group needs to use at least 4 pictures, in a Power Point, to explain the typical celebration to the class. After each group presents, the other groups are required to ask onequestion to the presenters, and the presenters need to make their best effort to answer. The teacher will also ask each group one question about the typical Mexican celebration. Important:Your time is limited. You will work on this today and tomorrow and present to the class on Wednesday February 26. You need to manage your time wisely.

Wednesday May 7th until Wednesday May 14th I will be absent these 5 days. Your task is the following: 1) You have five (5) class periods to work diligently on your school Power Point Marketing Project. You need to be very productive. Thus, use your time wisely. When I get back on Thursday May 15th, together we will set the date for the class presentations. So, if you need extra time in addition to the class time I am giving you, also work on your project at home. Important: When you present, you will share information from what is written in yourPower Point. However, I expect you to say an additional sentence or two about information that is not written on your slide. Also, remember that your presentation is not a reading exercise. I expect you to know what you are talking about. Thus, you may consult your notes, but don't read them as if you are reading a book. Furthermore,body posture, projection of voice, and eye contact are very important. You are assuming the role of a professional. Thus, you need to model the skills and attitude of a PROFESSIONAL.
2) Once you finish your School Marketing Project, read the text below (Una Nación en Peligro), look upthe necessary vocabulary and grammar, and discuss with your partner the message of the text. Then write a at least 100 words on your opinion (creo que, pienso que, opino que) about what you read.
Important: Your paragraph needs to be written in your notebook and it needs the following:
1. introduction sentence
2. body (with all the information required above)
3. closing sentence
4. transition words used appropriately (such as primero, segundo, también, luego, después, finalmente, etc.)
5. beautiful handwriting
6. use double space (important)
7. Important: Don't use Google translate. Use the big dictionaries in the bookshelves. If you don't see any dictionaries in the room, please go to room C3.5 (Mrs. Vasquez) ask to borrow a dictionary.

For the reading comprehension test you will get a text related to a school and several questions about the text.
Written test additional instructions
You need to write an essay that is 3 paragraphs long (about 400 words). The first paragraph should be you introduction, the second paragraph the body, and the final paragraph the closing. Please pay attention to your grammar and spelling. Additionally, please make sure you use transition words within each paragraph. Some transition words may be: y, también, luego, después, adicionalmente, finalmente, en conclusión and por último. Also, don't forget that each paragraph needs a topic sentence. A topic sentence expresses the main idea of the paragraph in which it is found. For now, I suggest that your topic sentence be the first sentence in the paragraph.
Bullet point outline written in English:
For the written test, you are allowed to bring 10 bullet points (Maximum 2 words per bullet point) These bullet points should be in English, and I will check them before the test starts.
